Saturday was the mother of all junking days here in my 'hood, with an advertised "Hoarder's Estate Sale" (that I've had on my radar for WEEKS), a town-wide yard sale, a Lion's Club Flea Market, and the usual mid-September plethora of sales.
Sadly, the hoarder sale was a complete bust. Not only did we waste a half hour of prime yard sale time waiting in line (as the newbie estate sale company slowwwwlyyy let in 2 people at a time to the tiny house), but once inside found little of value, high prices, and unwilling negotiators. And maybe a mouse dropping or twelve.
I walked out empty-handed, but Mr. VJIMT got these framed patriotic sheet music pieces:
Fortunately, there were a gagillion more yard sales to dig through and it wasn't yet 9am.
I was looking for a large stool to use at my still-figuring-it-out computer workstation. I'm not a big fan of stools, as I'm not very nimble and have short, stubby legs -- kind of like a Corgi -- but this one looked like it might be easy to climb up on. The cushion is in desperate need of some repairs, but I liked the art deco-ness about it, so I think it will be easy to resell if it doesn't work out.
Three pretty green, blue and aqua suitcases, each at a separate sale.
Three vintage cameras, also found separately.
Everything you see next (and one of the cameras) was from just one sale, which I nearly missed because it was set way back in the garage area with no sign out front. There were 4 people sitting in front of the driveway in lawn chairs waiting for customers. I thought they were just chit-chatting and enjoying the lovely weather.
Vintage red wagon.
Old football.
A bunch of local yearbooks and football programs. I was hoping to find some photos of hunky graduate Michael Landon, but he didn't attend until the mid 1950s.
A Bobbsey Twins book, in good condition for about a hundred years until ruined with a price sticker. Grrr.
Various pieces of bling.
Old-school pencil sharpener.
Best of all was this amazing scale. It is a great small size with an exquisitely ornate weight indicator.
I was pretty sure it was the best find of the day.
Until we came across this fabulous green velvet Victorian armchair at the very end of the day -- it had just been marked half off, and she came down even more when we showed interest. I would love to use it at the afore-mentioned computer workstation but is so not high enough. Drat.
I finally got to the flea market at 1pm, not really expecting to find anything but hey, you never know.
I think we had a pretty spectacular day anyway though, don't you think?
You found some wonderful treasures. And oh how I wish that rummage sale would start in the evening here do that people like me who still have to work a yucky day job could shop at opening time. I so enjoyed my visit today. Thanks for sharing.
Smiles,
Carol

So glad you didn't miss out on that scale! It's so neat! And Michael Landon is from your town? That's pretty cool! My towns little claim to fame is Elivra grew up here. My brother actually lived in her grandparents house for a long time. Sorry for the tangent... back to topic...Great haul!!!

I am an estate sale owner. I must say you came across some great finds. I especially like the yearbooks. I believe there is a website that you can help people find pictures of yearbooks that may have been lost or misplaced over the years. In fact, they may even pay you for the books or uploads...Great finds!

Excellent finds, and I just want it on the record somewhere that other than your friendly manner, you do not at all resemble a Corgi.
