So have you seen the book (and subsequent magazine publication) "Where Women Create"? It features the fabulous creative spaces of fabulously creative women. The artists and the areas they create their art in are spectacular, inspiring, and sometimes jaw-dropping.

As you saw in my previous post my "art studio" does not come close to looking like any of these gorgeous spots. And I'm not really creating in it; procrastinating in it is more likely!
It did used to look a little better though, before THE STUFF took over. Thought you might want to take a look at the "befores".
Smirk-y handmade folk art cat (not vintage) greets you upon entering.

On the right hand side of the room as you come in is a blue distressed bench with shelf. A big Crisco tin is used as a trash receptacle. Vintage photos and postcards reside in the chippy white divided box on the left. Scrapbook supplies (unopened, since I just collect them) are in the equally chippy white carrier on the right.

Further in on the right side of the room, a small green chest of drawers (empty) sits under a shabby mirror and exposed brick wall. Under that is a wooden nine-drawer hardware storage cubby, currently holding my inks, small punches, eyelets, etc.

Painted chair and brown bottle collection near my work area.

Cool blue table with brown top that I use as a desk. Small lidded trunk underneath holds crafty supplies.

You saw this in a previous trash-picking post -- great mailbox slotted cubby.

Heading over to the left side of the room -- one of those ever-present teapot lamps, some jars, and a doorknob collection sit on a favorite blue pie safe cupboard. Love the drawer on the bottom, even if it does wobble and stick.

Gray dovetailed drawer full of kid craft things sits on the floor to the right of the pie safe, and some printers' block sets rest under it.

There are a few pieces piled up in this corner. On the bottom is a mustard-colored four drawer chest with long top drawer which holds adhesives, brushes, paints, and scrapbooking tools.
Next is a divided cubby, also a mustard color, that alternates drawers and empty slots. Love the visual look of that. I also like drawers in particular, in case you haven't noticed. (Yes, vintage dealers, I am the one opening [and closing, don't worry!] all of the drawers in your booths. Don't hate me. It's a sickness.)
Last is a four-drawer green chest of drawers; I think these are empty too. Ball jars full of buttons, sequins, bottle caps, scrabble letters, sea glass, broken china, and other miscellany sit on top.
See the exposed brick above the green drawers? It's not really exposed brick! Husband painted the faux-bricks on the wall to cover up some water damage. Trompe-l'œil at its finest!

To the left of the blue pie safe is a chippy gray cubby hanging on the wall. Resting atop it is one of my favorite printer block sets. It has all kinds of words to make lots of fun phrases!

You also saw this rusty crib side before in this post.

Dry sink below holds scrapbooks, paper, bins of fabric and ribbon, and rubber stamps. I love those three containers on the bottom shelf -- the blue lidded tin flanked by the two drawers with awesome pulls and labels.

And look! You can see the beautiful original hard wood floor (that handy husband refinished himself)! Maybe someday I'll be able to see it again...
