Saturday’s meager listings led me to an advertised “Epic Yard Sale.” The seller was a member of the Philadelphia “Dumpster Divers” -- a local group of about 40 artists, collectors, and friends who work largely with found objects and recycled materials. This group has been recycling and reusing for almost 20 years, before it was cool to be green!
This Diver was on the verge of being a Hoarder and had been convinced by his pals to free himself from the bonds of his “stuff.”
There were tons and tons of cigar boxes for a dollar apiece -- I wish I had a project in mind for them!
There were lots of plaid coolers and thermoses too. Some of these are the collectible Skotch Koolers, designed by Petra Cabot in 1952 and manufactured by the Hamilton Metal Products Company of Hamilton, Ohio.
After chatting with the seller for a bit, he showed me his “stash” in the basement.
There were piles of vintage typewriters tucked away all over place -- woo hoo!
None of which were for sale -- boo hoo! I guess he hadn’t been totally convinced the purging and destashing project was a good idea!
Look at that fabulous red one!
And for the rest of us hoarders/collectors/keepers of stuff, this metal sign says it all. Even with the grammatical error.
I love old cigar boxes... a stack of those definitely would've come home with me! :)

Great stuff! Did you bring any of it home? Those of us who are friends of apostrophes thank you for recognizing the error (but still loving the sign)!

Once again, a post that coaxes obscenities from my mouth........
Faced with all those cigar boxes, red plaid Heaven, and those glorious typewriters, I think my brain would short-circuit. What a great sale to go to.....
