The fourth of July always sneaks up on me. Little Miss VJIMT celebrates her birthday in the week prior, and I am still digging my way out of the festivities that having a 7-year old entails.
That week prior also held the Kutztown Extravaganza, a local auction, the usual yard sales, and one super-duper estate sale! Let's start off there…
The estate sale was very close by and the house was packed floor to ceiling with boxes and bags and stuff; I knew that I was not seeing everything the first time through. Or the second.
Yes, I went back three times in two days. I have a problem.
The basement was so dark and so low-ceilinged that my 5-foot-0-inches self had to duck. One man wasn't so fortunate, as he emerged from the bowels with a bleeding scalp wound!
I thought for sure I would find a wad of hundreds hidden away somewhere in that house. There were just so many drawers still unopened and un-pawed through.
No hundreds, but you know this is one of my favorite finds:
I just adore old typewriters -- if only they weren't so heavy and difficult to display! Have you seen the technology that allows you to use a vintage typewriter with an ipad? I want it!
Cute made-in-Japan Santa decoration.
Yeah! Phillies baseball pin from the 1950s.
Sweet cardboard cards of sewing thread.
A big box of vintage buttons and buckles. Some cool celluloid ones, but they're not in the best of conditions.
I convinced Mr. VJIMT that this mirror was a necessity; remember it, because you will see it again soon transformed into a thing of beauty!
I have always loved those cardboard thread holders - great graphics! A more ambitious person than me would frame them, but you can guess where that project stands.

Love those kind of sales. Haven't found any like that in a long time though. I'm drooling over the rhinestone buttons and the mirror is great too. I would have bought both and on an added note. I have a typewriter just like the one you found in my Stars booth. Love it!

Very nice Estate Sale Finds! I guess that is a good thing about "Collectors/Hoarders" is all of the Vintage treasures that remain buried away in their house for many decades.
I LOVE Vintage typewriters too...I wish they weren't so darn heavy & bulky! It often reminds me about these vintage items that were once mass-produced (and well-made) in the USA at one time...sadly, those days are long-gone...
