Clover Market -- The Photos, Part 2

So, Clover Market finally arrives! Fantabulous day, although not as warm as we may have liked. Probably kept some people away, but still a decent crowd. Well-run, well-organized, and so much fun (kudos to Janet who ran the whole shebang)!

Lots of work beforehand, but worth the effort. Some of that work, like making tags and pricing, are now done and won't have to be done again the next time.

And there will probably be a next time, since our trunks are still filled with junk!

We did sell a ton of stuff, and it would be great if we had a trailer and could just keep all of the priced and tagged stuff in that trailer and park it in our driveway. But we don't, and after our long day at the show we had to unload all that stuff AGAIN and put it away in the garage. Oy, my aching back!

We had two spots, so one booth held my plate trays, doorknob stoppers, and rings made from vintage earrings and buttons. I'm hoping someday my hoard of vintage jewelry parts and rosary beads will find their way out of the bags and boxes and into a necklace or two.

The best part was meeting up with some old and new friends, including the bloggy ones. Finally got to meet Colleen (and her sister Erin) of Fresh Vintage, and Allison of Nanny Goat Antiques. A special shout out to my pal Karen for hanging out and helping with the staging.

The other side of the booth held our de-stash of antique and vintage goodness. Cut-glass lamps, retro clocks, metal fans, folding rulers, dove-tailed boxes, shabby tables…

Stacks of suitcases, etched mirrors, colorful firkins and buckets, metal coolers, chippy frames…

Decorative shelves, tin canisters, silver urns, metal trays, ironstone pitchers, silver chalkboard trays…

I think my favorite sale was the typewriter I purchased in Bouckville this summer that Mr. VJIMT lugged irritably reluctantly helpfully back to the car for me. I was vindicated when it sold early and for a hefty profit! My first “woo-hoo” of the day!

Clover Market -- The Photos, Part 1

I am exhausted, and ready to crawl into bed, but wanted to post a few photos from Clover Market first. Here is our unloaded stuff. It was tough cramming all of this into an SUV and a little Toyota, but we did it!

Mr. VJIMT poses with the newly unpacked wares, as Colleen from Fresh Vintage passes by and throws something at him from her van. Just kidding, but I'm bummed we didn't get any photos with her or her booth.

Clover Market Preview

If there were an Olympic competition for packing 10 pounds of shhhhhugar into a 5-pound bag, I would win the Gold with no problem. Those Hoarders? Their problem isn't emotional or obsessive compulsion; it's that they don't know how to pack. Let me at ’em; they'll have plenty of room in their homes once I’m through with them!

Here is our SUV, loaded and ready to go bright and early Sunday morning. You will not believe how much we are bringing to the Clover Market --we had to rent two booth spaces! Every box, drawer, and container has more stuff inside.

I didn't get a photo of my little Camry, but it is also full, with three big containers full of vintage plate trays and other vintage goodness.  I'll make sure to get a photo of everything unloaded out of the cars. And of course, our bloggy friends and their lovelies too!

And Besides the Aqua Suitcase…

So the gorgeous aqua suitcase wasn't the only thing we scored at the yard sales on Saturday. 

Side note: aqua suitcase seller later told me she had a larger, matching one at her (not where this sale was held) house. Upstairs in the attic. Holding all the toys. Groan.

Anyway, back to the sales. Hubby found this way cool school desk and chair. 

And this red wagon.

I was going to sell this narrow rose print at Clover Market but my sister-in-law wanted it, so happy early birthday present.

Bunch of yard sticks.

Awesome white child's rocker, including cushion covered in fab ticking fabric. Oh, and plaid metal thermos jug.

I'm not finished! All this too!

I like the sepia illustrations and vibrant red on this piece of fabric. Not sure if it's really vintage or just looks that way.

Also liked the embroidery on this set of small table runners.

Rosary beads, enamel pin, compass, clock, and silver tray.

Czechoslovakian glass decanter and shot glasses in need of a good washing.

Finally, these sweet crochet potholders shaped like little dresses.

Not a bad haul for opening day -- here's to a winning season!

But Where Will I Put the Books?

This gorgeous aqua suitcase was found at a yard sale on Saturday. Unmarked in price, filled with 25-cent children's books. 

Me: How much for the suitcase?

Seller: What suitcase?

Me: This one right here, filled with the books.

Seller: You want all the books?

Me: No, I want the suitcase. How much?

Seller: For the books with the suitcase?

Me: I just want the suitcase.

Seller: But where will I put the books?

(my husband walks away)

Me: Um, in a box?

Seller: I need the suitcase to hold the books.

(fellow shopper next to me mutters “She doesn't want to sell ANYTHING!”)

Me: Are you sure you don't want to sell it?

Seller: You know it's vintage. It's really heavy.

Me (in my head): I know it's vintage, and I don't expect to be checking it onto a Southwest Airline plane anytime soon! 

Me (out loud): You don't say? I just really like the color.

Seller: I need it to hold the books.

Me (again): Are you sure you don't want to sell it?

Seller (hesitantly): Well, how much would you pay for it?

Me: Five dollars.

Seller flies out of her chair and starts tossing the books haphazardly onto the grass.

Seller: Well, for FIVE DOLLARS it's yours! I think I have a milk crate in the back.
