This gorgeous aqua suitcase was found at a yard sale on Saturday. Unmarked in price, filled with 25-cent children's books.
Me: How much for the suitcase?
Seller: What suitcase?
Me: This one right here, filled with the books.
Seller: You want all the books?
Me: No, I want the suitcase. How much?
Seller: For the books with the suitcase?
Me: I just want the suitcase.
Seller: But where will I put the books?
(my husband walks away)
Me: Um, in a box?
Seller: I need the suitcase to hold the books.
(fellow shopper next to me mutters “She doesn't want to sell ANYTHING!”)
Me: Are you sure you don't want to sell it?
Seller: You know it's vintage. It's really heavy.
Me (in my head): I know it's vintage, and I don't expect to be checking it onto a Southwest Airline plane anytime soon!
Me (out loud): You don't say? I just really like the color.
Seller: I need it to hold the books.
Me (again): Are you sure you don't want to sell it?
Seller (hesitantly): Well, how much would you pay for it?
Me: Five dollars.
Seller flies out of her chair and starts tossing the books haphazardly onto the grass.
Seller: Well, for FIVE DOLLARS it's yours! I think I have a milk crate in the back.
THE END.

I purchased the same suitcase from my neighbors garage sale....it had traveled with her to Holland back in the 60's. I refurbsished the inside it is now a place for my granddaughters toys.

I love it.
Hell, yeah - find someplace else to put the books for Pete's sake, yard sale lady!
I got such a kick out of this - and even more so because I just recently got a vintage aqua suitcase for $5, also! I will definitely be doing a post about it - I don't even have it yet to take a photo (long story)!

You should have offered a dollar for the milk crate, just for fun...

OMG! I'm cracking up. Money talks. Or in this case... money moves! I would have been laughing right in front of her had I been that fellow shopper standing next to you. In the end you won. And YOU don't even have to worry about where to put all the books! Score!

Ha.. thats funny.. Always amusing what you find at yard sales that are 'non' valued. And yet the tupperware bowl you have at home they want 10.00 for.
