With apologies to Walt, it ain't the place with the omnipresent mouse ears. According to my hubby, it's Bouckville in August. And of course, I would have to agree.
So what did we get, what did we get? I still have some fun shots of the event itself, but I promise I won't keep you in suspense any longer and will talk more about the trip after you see the purchases. Here's our haul!
That's a metal baby stroller from the 1930’s on the left, just the front part of a clock sitting in the seat, and a small checkerboard box near the handlebars. Some male wedding party dolls, a lovely typewriter, and a cute small narrow yellow side table with drawers.
Side view of the stroller. We actually got it at a yard sale about 20 minutes before we hit Bouckville on Tuesday. The woman selling it was supposed to be a vendor at the show, until a giant elm tree smashed into her house on Monday. So she just set up shop in her garage. Good thing for us it was on our way!
I was hoping to sneak the typewriter into the car, but since he was the one carrying it (on a dolly) to the car, I guess I was caught. Wish I had a nice big shelf to display my all-of-a-sudden collection, but maybe they will come in under the 70-pound priority mail weight limit and I can sell them on Etsy! I guess I could just sell the keys but it seems kind of sacrilegious to me to rip them off and desecrate the typewriter.
Tin marble game, cardboard oatmeal container and a neat green (not black) cottage cheese tin. The giant blue metal can is too big for household trash but would be great to store pet food. For a big giant cat. Or two.
Large metal truck (lots of metal this year), dog with scottish tam, shabby metal soap tray, miniature metal child's cupboard with mirror, and small gray box.
Child's green rocker, shabby chic white metal stand, a couple of rusty drawer pulls, a small tin sign, assorted metal letters, and some religious statues.
Wooden finial, vintage car horn, cute little clock, large shallow box (that has some writing on it), and a flood marker from the side of a barn on the Merrimack River.
A sweet shuffleboard game that came from the historic Roxy Hotel in Cape Vincent, NY. Because we don't have enough game boards. Good thing it's narrow so we should be able to squeeze it in.
Assortment of china for making cake plates. As I was digging for some of these, I heard Sue and Linda wondering where I had gone and then “there she is, under the table!” And I hadn't even had a martini! Yet.
Boy Scout first aid tin with hinged lid, a bunch of victorian Valentine’s Day cards, lots and lots of buttons, bingo and lotto games and other paper ephemera, a butterfly book with great illustrations written by an entomologist circa 1917, and blue boy candle holders.
Hiding all of my bling in the Boy Scout tin.
For some reason I was collecting reindeer this trip. Red flocked ones, small plastic white ones, even a green one! Also Christmas reflectors, lots of dice, a fuzzy chick, more candle holders (ballerinas), assorted rusty pieces, including keys. And silver tray with handles.
We were looking for a great old tile or two to use as a back splash in our powder room. This one we purchased is an (English) Corn Bros. tile circa 1890’s. I'll make sure to photograph the project when it's completed.
Little framed painting of a barn and farm.
And, finally, a big bag of sewing notions and lace.
And that's what we got at Bouckville, 2010. No lines, no roller coasters, no mascots. Just clear skies, bloggy friends, and acres of vintage loveliness. Hope to see you next year at the 40th Annual!!
I love the buttons & sewing notions. I also really like all the old china plates.
Makes me want to get to working on projects.
