So I had to take a bit of a computer break after the technology rant of my last post. I just could not bear to sit at my computer for One. More. Second. And my computer is the Apple® of my eye, so to speak, so you know it was serious.
I was thinking I needed to take a yard sale break as well. If you hadn't noticed, I was really feeling overwhelmed by the sheer volume of stuff I have to rid myself of. Didn't I have enough already to last me until the next big snowstorm? There was only one yard sale listed on Saturday anyway. No big deal to skip it. Oh, wait, there are three that look interesting. What could it hurt?
{pregnant pause}
OMG, I CAN'T BELIEVE I ALMOST PASSED UP ALL THIS GREAT STUFF! What was I thinking? Next time somebody slap me upside the head, ok?
...’cause I would have missed these great women's magazines from the 1940’s!
...and these amazing martini shakers!
(Look at the lid on this one -- you spin it to the drink you want and it gives you the ingredients -- isn't that convenient?!)
...and these great old illustrated children’s books!
...and this really heavy small (working) fan!
...and these Halloween candles. A woman had a bunch of them in a pile, and I was bumming that I had gotten there too late, but she missed a couple.
...and this cool green plastic cigarette case in its original box!
...great architectural details -- can you believe they were only 50 cents?
But best of all was this wooden post. I grabbed it as soon as I saw it; I immediately loved it, and as I lugged it around the yard, the seller came up to me to tell me its story. It was a stage prop for the play "Cats" in NYC and SHE lugged it all the way from the theater to Penn Station and from the train station to the streets of Philadelphia. A piece of Broadway history for only $3!
I have had a great time reading over your junking adventures! karen....
