So we went to Rhode Island with some friends last weekend. The weather was awful--cold and blustery (I95 was shut down--SHUT DOWN! -- just after we got home due to the heavy rains) but the B&B was fantastic! The innkeepers have only been running it since November, but you would never know it. If you ever find yourself in need of a bed and breakfast near Newport, I would highly recommend the East Bay B&B in Jamestown for its wonderful hosts Diane and Paul, sumptuous breakfast (including homemade scones and cookies) and charming (and sparkling clean) rooms.
We had to eat here since it was touted on the Food Network, plus it had the word "shack" in its name. We like that.
We were hoping to hit a couple of antique centers along the way and near Jamestown, but were kind of disappointed (actually, we were hoping for some outdoor flea markets but that was total wishful thinking). Although once we unloaded all of our wares, it surprised me by how much we DID buy. I guess I'm used to the good old days when the truck would be crammed with stuff and various crap would be strapped to the rooftop. As my husband is fond of saying, "It's not a good day if I can see out the windows."
No furniture this time, but lots of good smalls. Here's a view of everything (small yellow chest for display purposes only; not included in recent purchases).
And some close ups. I think I'm going to split them up in a couple of posts so it doesn't get overwhelming. Great green toolbox with insert.
I LOVE this little semi-porcelain dish. The color is perfect, and it will look great in the bathroom.
Mmm, condensed mince meat. Delicious graphics on this tin pail, anyway.
Look at this cute little bottle! Only a couple of inches tall with a nice label (although I can't figure out what it says).
Vintage duck pins -- again, great graphics and colors.
Flat iron, metal fluted urn with lid, and yellow (butter?) crock.
More vessels. Tin tole hand-painted pitcher...
More cool advertising art on this box.
Metal wall-mounted storage thing and hat holder (at least that's what we're going to do with them).
And last for now, old "V for Vintage" block. This post has taken me forever to write. Part two tomorrow.
Hi Gina- this looks like such a fun trip! Your goodies are wonderful- I would have bought all of those, too! Fun graphic items!
